Find the Perfect Natural Candles for Your Texas Wedding
Did you know Dripping Springs is the wedding capital of Texas? It’s true! With more than 35 wedding venues within a 15-mile radius, even the Texas Legislature agreed to give our little city the official designation. If you plan to exchange vows in the hill country, then consider using locally sourced beeswax candles for your big day. Our natural candles are hand crafted and made with 100-percent pure domestic beeswax.
Why use beeswax candles?
While you could choose any kind of wedding candles, more and more eco-minded families choose beeswax. Our customers know that beeswax makes the most natural candles; they’re the most ecofriendly, longest lasting, and brightest burning wedding candles on the market. Other wedding candles pale in comparison, literally. By celebrating your wedding with locally sourced beeswax candles, you are supporting local bees and local businesses.
Not sure how to include beeswax candles in your wedding? Don’t worry! We’ve teamed up with our lovely neighbor, The Flower Girl, to help you enhance a wedding with beeswax candles. The Flower Girl is run by Kari Shelton, a Texas native. Kari is an amazing wedding and event florist with over 15 years of experience. Her expertise in local wildflowers and succulents makes crafting the perfect wedding arrangement using natural candles second nature. We recently had the pleasure of working on a wedding setup with Kari, and she was kind enough to share some of her wedding decorating tips with us.
Ways Candles Can Be Used to Enhance Décor
After a wedding, the atmosphere and how it made guests feel are the memories that linger the longest. Creating that beautiful, romantic and cozy setting can only be achieved through candlelight. Kari recommends candlelight for its warm aesthetic glow, saying “everyone looks great in candlelight, and it truly creates a relaxed ambiance.” There is just something about the golden flame of a burning candle that helps people savor the moment.
Incorporating Candles in Centerpieces
According to Kari, “Candles are a must for weddings. In photos, they add that extra twinkle or glimmer that really makes photos pop.” In our shoot, we featured our large Texas candles as placeholders with every dining set. We are in love with this idea because the Texas candle also becomes a neat party favor for your guests. Kari also recommends thinking beyond just tabletop arrangements. Candles look absolutely stunning floating in a pool, paired with arches, or displayed along the wall.
Making a Centerpiece Stand Out
Personalize your wedding centerpieces. The most memorable centerpieces reflect the personalities of their hosts. When Kari creates her wedding centerpieces, she gives her clients this piece of advice: “Have your centerpiece speak about you and the character of your event, because it will establish a connection with your guests.” Whether it’s through a candle shaped like your home state, or your favorite flower, or a color that represents you, there are countless ways to make your centerpiece unique. The thought that you and your designer put into creating your wedding centerpieces will be recognized by your guests.
Changing it Up
If you are planning to have multiple wedding centerpieces, you may be worried they’ll look disconnected from one another. Fortunately, there are several ways to leverage your centerpieces so that the look stays cohesive. When you create individual centerpieces, focus on emphasizing specific elements, such as the candles or the greenery. Unique candles, such as shaped candles, become excellent accent pieces. When you pair multiple centerpieces together, focus on subtle contrasts between the centerpieces to enhance the overall look. Kari approaches this by creating contrasts through height differences. She enjoys “using candles with a variety of heights, so that they complement each other and create interest in the space.”
Flowers that Pair Well with Beeswax Candles
The most distinctive characteristic of our beeswax candles is their warm golden hue. Many people will pair our candles with blue and dark colored florals. This pairing creates a very formal look. We asked Kari which flower is her favorite to pair with beeswax, and she told us that she loves white flowers. She “loves how the white lets beeswax’s golden hue shine through” to create a really bright arrangement. How you arrange your colors can change the tone of your wedding centerpiece, so think about what you want to convey beforehand.
Paying it Forward
One of the many things we love about Kari is her kind heart. She helps her clients recycle their used centerpieces by donating them to local organizations, mainly senior rehabilitation centers. The used flowers enhance physical therapy for recovering patients. Similarly, The Beeswax Co. has a beeswax recycling program. After your wedding, send us your leftover beeswax instead of throwing it away. We donate our recycled candles to local charitable organizations. We love working with designers because there is no set formula to creating the perfect centerpiece. It is so inspiring to see how others take our natural candles and create beautiful arrangements with them. We had a great time talking with The Flower Girl about wedding décor ideas.
